Subjects with a clear centre

A strong pitch has one main question or idea, a clear reason it suits Authentic Home Journal and a sense of what the reader will understand by the end. We are interested in thoughtful explainers, comparisons, histories and considered pieces about everyday domestic details.

What to include

Briefly describe the proposed piece, its central point and the approach you would take. Mention any sources or visual material you expect to use, and disclose relevant commercial interests. Uncommissioned full drafts are not necessary for an initial proposal.

A considered approach

We look for specific writing, careful claims and respect for the variety of homes and household circumstances. Avoid pitches that rely on unverified product promises, hazardous projects or instructions requiring professional judgement. We will consider proposals through the Contact page.
